Joy Prouty

I am a "midwife" to women as they experience the transformational rebirths of themselves through vulnerable and intentional practices of self-reflective photography.

I offer mentoring experiences, portrait sessions, film projects & online courses.

I live with my husband and our seven children on a tiny island in Western WA & when I am not "working" I am spending as much time as possible grounding my feet in moss by the sea and dancing wildly.

an excerpt from my book "practicing presence":

"Maybe we don’t need a whole new set of circumstances to finally feel peace, but instead we might just need a way to see our circumstances from a more present perspective.

Turns out, looking through the viewfinder of a camera can help us to do just that."

A few facts about JOY

NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT STUFF

01

I am a Type 1 Diabetic... I was diagnosed at the age of 39 and love being an advocate!

02

Presence is the hardest thing in the world for me to embody- I'm doing the work alongside you.

03

My current theme song is Florence and the Machine's "Free". Put it on and DANCE.

04

Vulnerability terrifies me. And that's why I know I have to stay committed to the practice.

Shall we create something

beautiful

together?

I take on a limited number of projects each quarter and would love to talk with you about what you are dreaming up for us together...
